Step One – Education & Awareness
Athletes are educated on the importance of mouthguard use in contact sport, with a focus on the role mouthguards play in preventing dental trauma and reducing the risk of concussion. This step ensures athletes understand why protection matters, not just that it is required.
Step Two – Assessment & Impressions
On site, a qualified dentist will take either a conventional alginate impression of the athlete’s upper dental arch or a modern digital impression using an intraoral scanner. Where appropriate, digital impressions may be carried out by a trained member of our clinical team. Prior to any impressions, athletes are required to complete consent forms for registration, health and safety, and medico-legal purposes. Athletes will disclose any current medical or oral health conditions that may impact the design and fabrication of their mouthguard. We strongly encourage athletes to seek urgent dental treatment if there is severely damaged dentition or compromised soft tissue prior to mouthguard fabrication.

Step Three – Fabrication
Mouthguards are custom fabricated in our Auckland-based laboratory, with a minimum turnaround time of three weeks. Our focus is custom protection, not custom design, and we apologise to athletes seeking unique graphics or cosmetic customisation. Performance and safety always come first.
Step Four – Delivery & Fit Check
Mouthguards are delivered on site with a member of our team present to ensure fit, comfort, and retention are satisfactory. Each mouthguard is supplied in a protective container and zip mesh bag for hygiene and safe storage.
